How can you sell a sub standard shooter? Easy !! Just fill it full of hentai images and stick in a crappy plot. That's what Steam Heart's is all about. Originally a PC Engine Super CD game, the PC Engine version is worse (or better depending on your view) than the Saturn version in terms of actual hentai images. The Saturn version was toned down a little while the PC Engine version is completely uncensored.  However the in-game graphics and audio are superior on the Saturn. The PC Engine version of Steam Heart's features a full on sex scene that is blatantly cut out of the Saturn version and you can tell too !! Anyway, apart from the hentai images and suggestive voiceovers what else does this game have to offer? Hmm, not much really. As a shooter it's a mess. There are far too many power ups making it more of a pain in the arse than a challenge since you spend more time avoiding power-ups than collecting them. The enemy attack patters are also pretty bad, they're all over the place. There doesn't seem to have been any thought put in to where they come from at all. It's also pretty easy making it more of a chore to play than fun.

There are two modes available on the Saturn version of Steam Heart's, which are Arcade and Original. The original mode is the one that's full of the hentai images plus a long drawn out story before each level. The arcade mode however doesn't have the hentai images or the story.
It's basically just a straight shooter.

If you're looking for a good shooter then don't bother with this since you'll be pretty disappointed. If you're looking for some top quality hentai then again don't bother with this since the best part is cut. Steam Heart's is just a sad attempt by TGL (who mostly make hentai related games) to get some hard earned cash for those panty loving sad guys in Japan. By the way, this game does fetch quite a high price. I wonder why?
