Soldnerschild is a beautiful game with out a doubt.  Nicely modeled polygon characters over isometric back drops form the main playing areas while the battles are full on sprite affairs much like Dragon Force.  I've yet to play much of this game and to be honest probably never will but it does seem to be of a high quality, so if you're looking for a simulation RPG then maybe this is worth considering.
