Kaitei Daisensou or better known as In The Hunt was originally by Irem in the arcades however Irem ran in to a few financial problems in the early 90's which lead to this Saturn version being re-programmed by SIMS and distributed by Imagineer in Japan.  Kaitei Daisensou is best described as Metal Slug with submarines which is no surprise really considering that the same designers behind Metal Slug were behind this classic shooter.  The whole look to the game is beautiful with fine attention to detail going in to everything.  Unfortunately all this detail does lead to quite a bit of slowdown.  Still, it's a very solid shooter which you won't be completing in a matter of hours like some other shooters out there.  Quite a few people complained about the music in this game.  Now while I don't find it that bad I can understand why some people aren't too keen on it and it seems that the programmers agree with them since they've given us an option to switch off the background music.  As far as I know this is the only shooter to have ever offered such an option.

A word of warning goes out to anyone thinking of buying this Japanese version of In The Hunt.  It's known that quite a few copies of this game have a terrible time booting.  I heard from a few people that their copies hardly ever load and mine is the same.  It seems that there was a bad press run of this game which wasn't recalled.  While the game will load sometimes it's probably best to make a back up copy of it then play that using the disc swap technique or if you're lucky like me then use the Magic Card II.
