Based on the Japanese Anime, Ninpen Manmaru
comes to the Saturn curtsies of Tamtam who I believe did some other 3D
stuff on the Saturn for Takara. This time however they are working with
Enix. Ninpen Manmaru is quite an unique title on the Saturn. I can't
really think of any other like it.
The goal of the game is to guide Ninpen around the 3D world in order to
find the exit at the end. On the way you must avoid the various
obstacles and walking pencils. Yes,. that's right, walking pencils. This
game is certainly a bit on the bizarre side. The first few levels are
quite easy with later ones requiring quite a bit of thought to get you
through them in one piece.
Graphically Ninpen Manmaru is quite nice with it's bright colourful
worlds. The polygon textures can be a bit on blocky side at times but
over all it's not too bad. If you're after a 3D platformer for your
Saturn then check this one out. The only real problem I find with the
game are the controls when using a digital pad can be a bit clumsy at
times so you'll be better off using the 3D analogue pad.
