Don't you think that Willy Wombat looks familiar? Yes? Well that is probably because the character artwork for this game is by Susumu Matsushita Company who made the Famitsu (Famous Japanese Games Mag) characters and the characters for Space World which is a theme part in Kita Kyushu / Yahatta Japan. Not that far from where I live actually.

Willy Wombat tries so hard to be a big player in the world of platformers but just doesn't cut it. There's cheesy pop music and between level cut scenes full of speech. The whole thing is in English too for that extra cool factor. But none of it works because of the design. It's just put together in such a cheap looking way and not to mention that the game is so dull to play which doesn't help matters. Willy Wombat as a game is quite nice for a level or two. Solid 3D worlds viewed from an isometric type camera which can be rotated at will using the L & R buttons. Decent controls and just above average graphics. The problem is that every level is the same and things soon start to become repetitive. I played for a good hour and found it more of a chore than fun to continue playing, which is not a good thing at all.
