After Nextech had re-programmed and released Takara's first Toshinden game for the Saturn, they thought they'd do one better by making a whole new Toshinden game on behalf of Takara for their Saturn fans. So along comes Toshinden URA (Ultimate Revenge Attack). Whilst Toshinden URA looks very nice with hi-rez graphics, big detailed character models that can fill the screen and even some transparencies, Nextech forgot one thing. Yes, it was game play.

Toshinden URA plays just like every other Toshinden game out there. So what are the problems? Well, the feeling of contact when you hit someone isn't so good. The characters control as if they are under water at times and the whole attack system seriously needs to be thought through. This is a real shame because this game has the visuals to impress and enough characters and secrets to keep any fighting fan happy. It's just a shame that Nextech didn't sort out the "under water" feeling that the game has. It doesn't look like they ever will either. Their follow up D-Xird also suffers from the same fate.

So is it worth buying this game? Well, only if you can find it cheaply. Toshinden URA can be had for buttons in Japan. The European version is not as cheap so you may want to import the Japanese version which should only cost about 100 to 300 yen for a used mint copy. Not too sure if this one was released in the States
