Back in the early days of the Saturn Sega produced some of the systems most beautiful games. Astal was one of them that made games on a certain other system look years behind. Sadly Astal played a little too slow. Not that bad that it made the game unplayable but sort of in the way that you'd wish Astal would get a move on. Saying that though, Astal is still a very nice and imaginative platformer that only Rayman has come close too. Astal has a unique (at the time) style of play were by you have to use your flying bird partner as a type of boomerang attack while Astal can hammer his opponent in to the ground or throw them across the screen. Astal also has the ability to blow mighty gusts of wind at his enemies which can result in killing them or as a chance to get past them. The Japanese version is far superior than the US version like 99% of all games mainly due to the fact that the voice acting is better and the opening and ending songs that were removed from the US version. Oh, and let's not forget the beautiful disc art. |
