Necronomicon is the follow up to the Saturn's cult pinball release Digital Pinball: Last Gladiators which was the follow up to two Super Famicom games. While most if not all western developed pinball games went for the 3D look or overhead view, KAZe (means wind in English) went for a static angled view which works very well indeed. Necronomicon is beautifully presented in every aspect. The whole atmosphere of the game is kind of spooky yet intriguing. The whole dark gothic atmosphere is quite disturbing if played in the dark, which is something I truly recommend. Plus make sure you have headphones on so you can crank up that gothic metal music and deep demon like voices. Sadly Necronomicon only has three tables for your enjoyment but that shouldn't be a problem because each table has loads of secrets to unlock and vary in style of play. I just wish there were one or two more because the ones that are present are so nice I'd like to see what else they could have come up with. I'm probably just being greedy though.

As far as looks go, Necronomicon is a stunner !! Everything is presented in the Saturn's highest resolution of 704 x 512 pixels which is why the Saturn is truly the monster of 2D. Even many Dreamcast 2D games don't support that type of resolution. The action in Necronomicon runs at a very nice 60fps with only the slightest hint of slowdown if you have something like 6 balls on the table at once.

If you're a fan of pinball then make sure you get yourself a copy of Digital Pinball: Necronomicon and also Last Gladiators. While you're at it try to get a copy of the Super Famicom games Super Pinball Behind the Mask and Super Pinball 2 The Amazing Odyssey which are also by KAZe.  They may not be as stunning as the Saturn games but still great titles for the the system they are running on.
