Well, what can I say about Alone In The Dark 2? I've read many times that the Alone In The Dark games were the greatest thing in Horror Adventure / Survival Horror games before Bio Hazard (Resident Evil) came along. All I can say is "What poor sods we were". I don't know about other versions of Alone In The Dark 2 but the Saturn version is awful. The game is so slow you wouldn't believe it. Changing screens should be instant like in Bio Hazard but here it takes a good two seconds. The control responsiveness is also very sluggish which make the game more of a chore to play than being fun. The game doesn't even look that good when it's moving. The pictures on the back of the box make Alone In The Dark 2 look quite nice but it's not. Those shots are all static screens. The actual polygon characters have some of the dirtiest looking textures ever seen on a Saturn game and probably the lowest count of polygons too, making everything look pointed. I have no idea why the polygon count is so low when the most you have on the screen at once is about 5 enemies.

Maybe Alone In The Dark 2 on the Saturn can be fun but I doubt it. If unresponsive controls, crappy loading times and really shitty looking characters are your cup of tea then by all accounts buy Alone In The Dark 2 for the Saturn. Otherwise keep well away from it.
