The first Earthworm Jim was
loved by many mainly due to it's fresh approach to the world of platform
games however the 2nd game is just a pile of steaming horse cack if you
ask me and it seems that I'm not the only one who thinks so.
You see, the main problem with this game are the level layouts. They are
just simply thrown together without any real thought. Many a time you
will have no idea where you are going or what platform you can or can't
stand on. The gjokesh are dull, animation is poor when you consider it's
meant to be fantastic fluid animation or so they told us when the game
was released. The collision detection could do with some work as well.
Oh, the aiming seems to have a mind of it's own at times. You could be
pointing your weapon directly at an enemy with nothing at all happening
yet at other times it will kill them. Add the f*ing annoying one liners
that Jim says all the bloody time (Why did American programmers deem
that necessary in the 90's?) and you have one game that will drive most
people around the bend.
At the end of the day, Earthworm
Jim 2 is one of those love it or hate it games. For me it's a
hate. I liked the first Earthworm Jim outing mind you.
