Croc wasn't really that hard to find in the UK even though it was one of the last few games to be released.  However this Japanese version that was released in 1997, 3 years before the last Saturn game is in fact pretty hard to come by.  So hard that this is the only copy I've ever seen in my 11 years in Japan and I came across it by chance in Manga Soko last week for the very cheap price of 480 yen.  Not bad when you consider it was still factory sealed !

So after a week of playing Croc I've noticed that the controls are a lot more fiddly than what I remember them being 11 years ago.  The analogue rotation angle is just too sharp.  By this I mean you may want to turn a corner but you'll end up doing a full 180 turn.  This can get rather annoying in tricky platform situations.  So I tend to switch to the digital controls in this case.  Camera angles aren't too bad though, especially when you consider the age of the game and I'm happy to say that Croc has kept well in the looks department.  Croc still looks as solid and vibrant as it ever did and it's also one of the very few Saturn games with Dolby Surround Sound.

Croc is a very solid 3D platformer, something that the Saturn doesn't have many of however the controls may annoy some people out there.  Saying that, if you preserve with it you'll find the game pretty rewarding as well as impressive for a Saturn 3D title.
