Marica is one of those classic Japanese RPG's that never get a release in the west which is a great shame. Anyway, Marica is the story about an ordinary school girl (named Marica) like any other until one day, after being sent to the super market by her mother to buy some meat for the stew, she ran across a mutant dog with it's brain half showing. Being a bit low in the brain department (I guess) Marica follows this mutant dog after it runs off with her meat. She discovers that the dog was helping out some guy dressed in bandages who hangs out in the school basement. Just who is this mystery guy and why did two thugs try to do him over? Well, you'll have to play the game to find out.

Graphically Marica is quite pretty with some nice animation and beautiful full screen character faces that appear when ever they have a conversation. At times these can be a bit annoying if they are changing rapidly however that doesn't seem to happen too often. There are also loads of lovely little touches in the game such as having to wait for the traffic lights to change colour so that you can cross the road.

If you own the likes of Magic Knight Rayearth or the Shining series and still need a good RPG fix then why not try out Marica? The only problem is that it's all in Japanese.
