Ever since Enix brought out Wonder Project J on the Super Famicom there have been many games that try to be like it. Tilk is TGL's offering for the Sega Saturn. As you may or may not know, TGL aren't exactly the best game programmers in the world. While a few of their titles do have some nice presentation, not many of them deliver a good game. Sadly this is where Tilk falls in to. Tilk basically means a small girl that came from the blue sea. So as you can guess the story is all about a small girl named Tilk.

The graphics in Tilk are very nice but could do with a little more animation. When the characters walk it seems as if the speed of the character's movement doesn't actually match the speed that they are traveling. The audio is pretty nice with loads of Saturn generated orchestral tracks plus full on speech for all characters. Unfortunately you can't skip the speech which does become annoying later on in the game. There's nothing worse than having to sit there listing to a load of bollocks you couldn't care less about. The battles are all played out on a grid which is a real shame since a game like this should be in real time rather than the war simulation type battles. The actual cut scenes in the battle aren't exactly inspiring either.

Sadly Tilk had an awful lot going for it but TGL just couldn't deliver the goods.
