The Super Robot Wars series of games has been very popular in Japan since the days of the 8 bit consoles but why? Graphically it looks pretty poor on every machine it’s been on. The game is pretty basic and dull to top it off but the Japanese love it. Why? I’ll tell you why. It’s because these games feature big robots from many different animations in one game. So the Japanese being robot maniacs will flock to it whether it’s a poor game or not just because it’s jam packed full of their favorite robots. To be honest though this game while on the surface looks like a load of crap is actually a pretty good war strategy game without going in to too much depth. The fact that it is full of Gundam, Evangelion, and so on is just a bonus to get all those people who wouldn’t normally buy this type of game to buy it. Sound wise this will probably keep many anime fans happy thanks to the remakes of many of robot anime tunes. Some sound pretty good but then again some sound poor such as the remake of Two Mix’s just Communication.

The Saturn has quite a fair few war strategy games and many that I’d pick over his such as Quovadis 2 but if you’re a fan of robots then this is the one for you.
