Now I know if
you read the Touge King The Spirit 2 page I
say that the 2nd game is a hell of a lot better than this, which is
correct but that doesn't mean this is a bad game. In fact I'd actually
say that this controls a lot better than the 2nd game without having to
customize everything. The second game needs quite a bit of customization
to get the car handling just right.
Graphically King the Spirit isn't that bad. True that the textures are a
bit low in resolution but the draw distance is mighty impressive. It's
pretty rare to see pop up in this game and let's not forget that it runs
at a very nice 30fps.
There are a total of 3 courses to choose from all with 2 way driving and
weather options. The car selection is a bit weak with only 6 cars to
choose from. Still, you can customize them in many ways. A special
mention must go to the 2 player mode. There are two styles to choose
from. The first is the standard split screen mode done horizontally like
99% of the racers out there. The second option though is to split the
screen vertically with player one on the left and player two on the
right. This method allows you to see further up the track but that's not
the highlight of this mode. Oh no, the highlight is when both players
come together the screens merge in to one ! This makes it a little
confusing at times but still a pretty cool feature.
