We all know Columns, that classic jewel matching puzzle game that was Sega's answer to Tetris. The idea is very simple really. All you do is connect 3 of the same jewel either horizontally, vertically or diagonally to make them disappear. The bigger the combination you get bumps up your score and eventually raises the game's speed. This Mega Drive version is pretty much arcade perfect which isn't really surprising when you consider that the arcade ran on hardware very similar to the Mega Drive. Pretty graphics for it's time with a choice of 3 haunting melodies to help you mellow out while playing. A true classic puzzler that is right up there with Tetris. |
