Gynoug, pronounced Jinog was one of the most beautiful shooters of it's time.  Featuring some very disturbing monsters such as mutated fish monsters and clouds the bled from their eyes, loads of parallax graphical effects, atmospheric gothic soundtrack and detail yet to be seen in a 16bit shooter on any system of the time.

Gynoug is your typical horizontal shooter but with a pretty nice weapon system.  There are two colour orbs to choose from.  One of which gives you forward blasting action in a 6 way shot style while the other will allow you to shoot in a much wider style.  As well as that there's options that you can collect that will allow you to put all your efforts in to shooting forward or split the power so that you can shoot backwards as well.  There are also a number of "bomb" power ups with in the game ranging from option style to smart bomb.  Each has it's plus and minus points so make sure you choose wisely depending upon what your situation may be.

Six tough stages in total will have you glued to your Mega Drive for hours.  Not an easy game by any means but you'll always want to continue just to see what twisted mutated creatures await you in the next level.
