The classic Atari arcade comes to the Mega Drive thanks to Tengen and what a fantastic job they’ve done. I’ll even go as far as saying this is the best home conversion of the arcade original ever made. Tengen have crammed everything in there including all the speech and what’s even better is that it doesn’t sound like your typical Mega Drive “I’ve swallowed a razorblade” type speech.

1 to 4 players can play at the same time just like the arcade but unlike the arcade you can’t just keep continuing. Nope, you are limited in continues so you’d better take your time to plan out your strategy, if you can find time that is with all the grunts, ghosts and deaths after you.

Graphically Mega Drive Gauntlet is pretty much the same as the arcade original with the added bonus of English or Japanese text. Sound is also very close to the original but now you have the added option of a BGM which you can switch on or off to suit your taste.

If you’re a fan of Gauntlet then this is the version for you. Fantastic ! Unfortunately this Japanese version fetches quite a steep price in Japan.
