What a load of shit this game is ! I always knew it was bad but not as bad as I found out after playing it. The first thing you'll notice once the game powers up is the beefy-ish audio. Things are looking promising at this point, unfortunately the goodness is about to end once the main game starts. Tinny sprites and bloody awful collision detection soon become apparent (within 10 seconds!!). Half the time the characters can hit you when they clearly miss yet for some odd reason it's impossible for you to hit them back. Animation is also very bad lacking in well... every possible way. Even the CPU AI is awful. Gangs will dive on to you continuously making it impossible to even fight back. This makes the game incredible tough. Now if you thought that was all that was wrong with this game then wait until you hear what's next. Never in my life have I come across a game that does this. In Double Dragon II your A and C buttons are used for punch and kick. Sounds fairly straight forward doesn't it? Well it would be if they didn't keep switching every bloody time you turn your character around ! One minute A is punch then the next it's kick with C turning in to punch. God only knows what the developers were thinking with this mess. So lets make a list of the good and bad points of Double Dragon 2 Good - Audio isn't bad Bad - Poor graphics all round, Pathetic AI, Very bad collision detection, sluggish controls that change during game play !, Jerky scrolling and far too hard. I think it's best not to bother with this crap unless you're a collector. |
