Quite a surprise Jewel Master is. I've known about this game for over 15 years yet have never bothered with it mainly because I thought it was some poor platform action game. How wrong I was. Jewel Master is actually quite entertaining. The main game is a basic walk along action title but it has a twist. Your power ups are actual rings that you equip to each finger. These rings will give your character new abilities allowing him to gain access to otherwise unreachable parts of levels or produce spells from his fingers such as fire balls. You are able to equip 2 rings per hand that can also be combined with other rings to give different abilities. It's quite fun trying all of the combinations out to see what combination will suit you for a particular level. However, you must collect these rings by killing enemies within the levels. Graphics and audio can range from ok to pretty nice depending on the level. The enemy characters are pretty big which really adds to the games appeal, especially since it's an early Mega Drive title. Thankfully Jewel Master isn't that expensive which makes it a worthy addition to your collection. |
