This is the type of game that stood the Mega Drive out from the SFC ! True arcade style gaming is the order of the day with Data East’s conversion of their own game, Crude Buster or Two Crude Dudes as it was known in the west. The story of the game is that civilization is on the brink of a major collapse thanks to crime raging at an all time high. The government call in the Crude Dudes to clean up the city and restore law and order. So as you can see, nothing too ingenious as far as the plot goes, hahaha.

The game consists of you taking control of one of the two Crude Dudes then heading off in to the 2D side scrolling city. There you can punch, kick and fly kick the crap out of any bad guy you come across. Not only that, you can also pick them up then fling them across the screen. And if that wasn’t enough to satisfy your violence craving you can also pick up and throw billboards, cars, posts and so on.

Graphically the game is pure late 80’s, early 90’s style with big sprites and gritty looking back grounds. To be honest there’s nothing outstanding about the look of the game but then again it doesn’t have to be. The action alone will keep you amused.

With two player simultaneous action, challenging game play and a fair few levels, Crude Buster is well worth checking out. One of Data East’s better Mega Drive titles.
