The first Valis game for the Mega Drive is in fact a conversion of the older PC Engine and Sharp X68000 games.  The Mega Drive version is pretty good too for it's age.  Take our heroin Yuko on her adventures to battle the forces of evil in the outer world.  As with the Valis sequels, Valis 1 also features some pretty nice cinema cut scenes which tell the story of the game.
