Back when I was still in school (maybe 5th or 6th form) the Mega CD was released upon the world.  Myself being an import freak even back then had a sexy Japanese Mega CD and Mega Drive while my brother had a PAL system.  Many a time I'd laugh at the pathetic PAL releases until he got Thunder Hawk one Christmas.  How jealous I was that he could play such an awesome game while I couldn't since there was no Japanese version at the time.

Thunder Hawk is probably one of the top 5 games that show what a Mega CD can actually do.  This helicopter battle shooting game still manages to put a smile on my face even now 12 years later.  The actual 3D while made from scaling sprites is very impressive to say the least and incredibly smooth too.  Accompanying the slick visuals (even if they are lacking in many colours) is a fitting rock style soundtrack that maybe even worth listening to on it's own just like Core Design's other releases, Jaguar XJ220 and Wolf Child.  The game is not only a joy to watch and listen to but also to play.  I had a good 2 hour session on this last night and even though I found it to be a little easy I can easily say that I'll be right back on it again this weekend.

Thunder Hawk is one of the finer Mega CD titles out there !  You'd be a fool to pass on it.
