Japanese Mega CD demo or sample discs are quite rare unlike in Europe where they were given away on the cover of magazines. Most of the Japanese Mega CD sample discs came from either Victor (Biggest supplier of European sample discs) or Game Arts. This Record Of Lodoss Wars disc comes to us from Sega in co-operation with Kadokawashoten Publishing. Unlike conventional sample discs however this one came with a mini players guide / art work / interview book based upon The Record of Lodoss War.

The disc contains a different title screen and is missing the impressive real time Record of Lodoss War introduction. It does however contain the opening video footage that is featured in the retail version. You can play up until the first real battle against some ogres. Upon completing that section you are presented with a special video from the beautiful voice actress Reiko Chiba dressed in Cosplay as Fianna. Basically she tells you to buy the full game to enjoy the adventures of the Lodoss world and thanks you for purchasing this sample disc.
