Aoi Hagane no Kihei: Space Griffon to give the game it's Japanese title is a 3D Mech action game.  You wouldn't think so though from looking at the screen shots on the back of the case.  The game uses Windows CE so you probably know that it isn't going to look so hot.  The visuals are ok but nothing great.  They are incredibly smooth though running at 60fps.  The story goes that you and your team have been sent to this moon base to clean out all the remaining scum that have taken over it.  Unknown to you and your team, the place is infested with zombie like creatures that were created by one of the remaining "human" characters in the game.  Anyway, it's up to you to save the remaining humans and bring them back to earth.
 
Like I said before the graphics in Space Griffon are OK but nothing great.  The animation plot sections the other hand are very nice.  These tend to drag on quite a bit though while they explain the plot of the game.  This isn't too bad first time round but if you need to continue then you'll have to sit through the whole thing again since it's not possible to skip them.  Another annoying feature is that at some points in the game the other characters will talk to you over the com-link.  This is needed so you know where and what to do next.  The problem is that you only have to take two steps and there goes the com-link.  Finish that bit of chatter and take another 2 steps and there it goes again !  This is really annoying because there's nothing you can do when the com-link is on.  You just have to wait until they stop talking because you can't skip it.
 
Over all Space Griffon is quite an enjoyable game that took me 5 hours or so to finish.  The puzzles aren't that taxing so none Japanese speakers can play the game with out any worries.  You won't understand the plot but at least you can sort of guess what's going on.
