What ever you do, please don't think that this game is anywhere near as bad as Ecole's dire Sega Saturn Death Crimson game. Their Saturn game looked and played so bad that it could be mistaken as a home brewed game made in someone's bed room. Luckily, Ecole have improved a lot since then and bring us quite an enjoyable gun shooting game. This isn't their first Dreamcast shooter either. There is also the original Death Crimson available fore Dreamcast. While I remember the main intro being different I can't remember much about the game apart from it seemed more "cheaper" than this version. Death Crimson OX is a well polished game that also appeared in the arcades in Japan thanks to Sega. Within this game we have the standard Arcade mode plus a Story mode which doesn't make much sense but still, it's nice to watch. There's also a bullet mode which consists of having to blow away the bosses. Over all this is a nice game with detailed levels and interesting monsters (even if most of them appear on every level.) but it's just too short. Death Crimson does offer more action than any of Sega's gun games I feel but with the lack of levels it's all over too soon. I got to the last boss on my first ever game !! So, should you buy this game? Well if you're a collector then yes. If you're really desperate for another gun game, then again, yes. But if you're an average gamer, I'd look elsewhere. |
