I have no idea what you really have to do in this game.  From what I've seen, you gain yourself a small yellow character as seen on the games cover.  Next your little yellow fellow goes to play with another yellow character using VMUs.  From there more path options open up.  So it's off to the next character to battle again.  I'm sure there's more to this game than what I've seen but for now it will remain a mystery to me due to my lack of time.
