The Dreamcast is really spoiled for it's range of 2D fighters with all of the Capcom games and SNK titles released on it. So it makes you wonder why Sammy would even want to bother to enter the market since they are the new comers who are up against the 2 biggest masters in the 2D fighting game gender. Luckily Sammy had a small trick up their sleeve. While all of SNK's fighters where based on the aging Neo Geo software and all of the early Capcom fighters were based on their aging 2D hardware, Sammy decided to use a custom made hardware set made by Sega for Sammy which was based on the Dreamcast hardware. The result was realistic animation quality graphics moving in real time along with some pretty stunning graphical effects. (something Capcom soon joined in on once they started using Naomi hardware for their arcade 2D Fighters). At first Guilty Gear X is a bit of an odd game to control but with a bit of perseverance you'll soon find an excellent fighter under all those pretty graphics. It's just a shame the Guilty Gear XX went to the PS2 even though it was designed to run on a Dreamcast.
The first print of Guilty Gear X came with a free groovy shaped CD Single. As far as I know there are three designs in total with one being pretty rare. Which one is pretty rare I don't know but pictured above it the one that came with my copy of Guilty Gear X. The first print also came with a beautifully designed GDROM similar to the Limited first print of Dead Or Alive 2.
